What does it mean to grow, process and make your daily textiles and clothing by hand? With this question, the Linen Stewardship began in 2020, when the first group of linen stewards stood in a flax field in Hemmen. In the seasons that followed, the stewards learned how to connect as a group to this process, to one another and to nature.

Learning by doing brought many special moments, experiences and a deep love for the beauty of flax. From this grew the wish to pass it on and to explore how it might be made transferable. In 2023, a research group of linen stewards took up this task through literature study, conversations with stewards and the gathering of personal experiences. This research group consisted of Carolien Evers, Joan den Exter, Hans Hutting, Ellen Rooijakkers and Marieke van Mieghem.

Now, five years after that first beginning in 2020, we present a handbook that will carry the Linen Stewardship further into the world. We warmly invite you to celebrate the launch of this handbook with us.

The handbook is made possible with support of the Triodos Foundation, CLICKNL and Creative Industries Fund NL.

Registration is not required.

The Stewardship Handbook is also available to order. Please note: the handbook is in Dutch. Order it here.
