kick-off meeting, the linen economy, de horsterhof, duiven

The Linen Project is dedicated to revitalizing linen production through the development of two new value chains. In June 2023, we hosted the kick-off meeting of the linen economy, bringing together stewards and partners at De Horsterhof. The day began with an introductory lunch, followed by a visit to the blooming flax field and engaging discussions on our shared values. It was an inspiring start to an ambitious journey.

We are collaborating with partners in agriculture, production, and retail to establish a sustainable and integrated value chain for flax and linen in the Netherlands. Each phase of the chain adds value, from the soil and the farmer to the flax processor, spinner, weaver, dyer, finisher, designer, maker, retailer and ultimately the end-user.

To achieve this, we collectively explore challenges and opportunities in designing a value chain where all stakeholders actively participate and feel responsible and connected to one another. Our shared ambition is to build a balanced, caring and equitable future while contributing to ecological restoration.

The following partners are committed to the project, each bringing unique expertise: Enschede Textielstad, Auping, New Tailor, Joline Jolink and Avans University of Applied Sciences.

We are proud to receive support from CLICKNL, the knowledge and innovation network of the creative industry. Their grant enables us to push forward with the linen economy throughout 2023 and 2024, ensuring a sustainable and impactful future for linen in the Netherlands.
