Involved in year 2024, 2025
I studied Art History and although I am no longer working in the cultural sector I now work in healthcare my passion for art culture and especially crafts is still very much alive. From a love of textiles I have in recent years started sewing clothes became acquainted for the first time with the basics of weaving and experimented with making and dyeing with plant based and natural dyes. From a cultural historical perspective as well as from a desire to work with my hands and to be creatively stimulated the linen project caught my attention.
What does the stewardship mean to you?
Working together in a practical and creative way spending time outdoors and experiencing what every step from flax to linen looks like. Also learning from one another discovering experimenting and creating together. I find it very valuable to experience and share the beauty and importance of all the crafts that are part of this process within a group.
Relevant specialisation
I would not really consider my limited knowledge of and experience with sewing weaving and natural dyeing as a relevant specialisation. What exactly I bring is therefore not very concrete. In any case a broadly interested open perspective and a good dose of enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.
Things I would like to learn
At first I mainly wanted to learn about the steps and different stages of growing flax and processing it into linen. I also wanted to become familiar with spinning flax and making flax paper which I have now both managed to do and I wanted to experience what it is like to do all of this as a changing group.
